Have You Filled a Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud and illustrated by David Messing is a perfect picture book describing our self esteem and confidence, two intangible objects that materialize on the pages. Going beyond how our own personal buckets are filled or emptied, it goes on to show how we can fill or empty others’ buckets through our words and actions. This is the elementary version of the bucket series.
What I disliked:
Nothing. It was what I expected.
What I liked:
I love the colorful pages and meaningful lesson this book teaches its readers. The book has a companion website filled with activities and ideas to expand the lesson beyond the classroom. You can check it out at bucketfillers101.com.
I used this as a School Social Worker with the lower elementary grades. It helped raise anti-bullying awareness and gave the classrooms I entered a vocabulary to describe their emotions, something difficult for many youngsters to verbalize.
Where to find it:
You can find it for less than $10 on the same website as I – Amazon of course!
