Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain by Verna Aardema and Beatriz Vidal is a phenomenally great book. The illustrations go hand in hand with the wording, which Verna Aardema adapted from a Kenya preschool story over a hundred years ago.
What I disliked:
Nothing. It’s a great read.
What I liked:
I loved the beat. The story was adapted and written into a poem that matches the rhythm of “The House that Jack Built.” It is beautiful and tells a folk tale that is peaceful and endearing. My kids loved is as younger elementary story, and they fell asleep to it more than once in their preschool years, the soothing repetition soothing their chaotic growing bodies.
Where to find it:
We were again blessed by Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. You can find a copy for less than $8 from Amazon, a great story for the price in my opinion.
