Snakey Riddles by Katy Hall and Lisa Eisenberg

Snakey Riddles by Katy Hall and Lisa Eisenberg with pictures by Simms Taback is a cute riddle book that will squeak out at least one laugh from its readers, but many more if you are familiar with the reptile world.

What I disliked:

Snakes.  Ish.  No thanks.

What I liked:

It is funny, but more importantly it’s an educated kind of humor.  When the kids didn’t get the joke, I had to explain the unfamiliar terms (adder, gnawing, etc., but totally worth it).  Then I would laugh watching their light bulbs turn on and eyes brighten.  It also brought about lively conversation with my son.

Here’s one for the road:  How did the snakes escape from jail?  They scaled the wall!  (insert funny illustration of snakes in black and white jail house snakes leaving the wall in their dust lol).

Where to find it:

Ours was a library discard my kids brought home.  You can find a copy from an Amazon seller for a few bucks, well worth the thought provoking laughter it will bring.
